Product overview

Introduction to Statistics with the Wolfram Language applies the extensive computational power of the Wolfram Language to the field of statistics. Starting from the basics and working through a range of foundational concepts, Klopper shows just how accessible computational statistics can be given the appropriate tool set. Topics include descriptive statistics, distributions, hypothesis testing, parametric testing, correlation and much more. Follow along as Klopper offers step-by-step instructions and relevant exercises from the field of medical statistics designed to teach readers how to understand and present data in today’s increasingly data-driven world. The Wolfram Language represents a major advance in programming languages that makes leading-edge computation accessible to everyone. Unique in its approach of having vast built-in knowledge and automation, the Wolfram Language scales from a single line of easy-to-understand interactive code to million-line production systems. Explore the author’s Wolfram Notebooks and look for updates in Coursera and Wolfram U for use with this book!

Introduction to Statistics with the Wolfram Language by Juan H. KlopperIntroduction to Statistics with the Wolfram Language by Juan H. Klopper

"One of the best Mathematica texts I've ever found.

It's only 200 pages in length, but if you're taking a stats course and want to use Mathematica to practice and learn while doing so, this is an absolute must-buy."

From the Introduction

"This text will teach you a practical, useful, and modern approach to analyzing data. In this first chapter, I will aim to give a quick and useful overview of doing data analysis using the Wolfram Language. With today's modern computational tools, statistics and data analysis can be easy to use and very exciting to learn.

The Wolfram Language is a powerful and modern computer language, and Chapters 2–4 will get you up and running with the language. Let me use this introduction to allay your fears about computer languages. Though it is not necessary to learn a computer language to learn statistics, learning this computer language will help you learn statistics faster. It will even provide you with the power to start using statistics immediately in your own life.

Once you become familiar with speaking your new language, we will use it throughout the rest of the text to explain statistical concepts in a way that is much easier than trying to understand esoteric equations. Together we will learn what the equations mean and how simple it is to do the calculations."
